A Piece of Paper & A Decent Pen
Julia Mayo
Wednesday 17 January 2018

This talk presents a snapshot of the lives of some of the world's famous writers, all of whom have a connection with east Hampshire.  The title refers to the fact that most of them wrote with either a quill or steel nibbed pen, 1 or 2 graduating to a fountain pen and even a typewriter.  How times change!  Charles Dickens, Charlotte Bronte and especially H G Wells will feature, and we will look at the fascinating connections between these writers and how the most local lived their daily lives in Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex.
